Faculty and Staff
Scholarships for international students studying in Japan are offered by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, the Japan Student Services Organization, corporations, and various other organizations.Scholarships can be broadly classified by application format, with some scholarships requiring universities to recommend applicants and others requiring students to apply individually.
At Ehime University, the International Relations Division is in charge of affairs related to scholarships for international students. The International Relations Division communicates scholarship information to international students through the following methods:
– Posting on the website of the International Relations Division
– Notifications via the international student mailing list *If you wish to register for the mailing list for international students, please contact the Student Exchange Team at the International Relations Division.
– Announcements on the bulletin board of the International Relations Division
For exchange students, there are generally no scholarships recommended by the university after arriving in Japan, but please check the Study Abroad Support Program (Acceptance by Agreement) for scholarships that can be applied for before coming to Japan.
Scholarships for which the university recommends applicants
Prospective recipients submit an application to the university, which then sends the application collectively to the scholarship granting organization and recommends applicants. Therefore, the internal deadline will be earlier than the deadline set by the scholarship provider.
If each university has a set number of nominees, an internal selection process is conducted.The internal selection process will focus on grades, but will also take into consideration financial status and academic year.
If an application does not meet the requirements set forth in each scholarship, it will not be considered.
Scholarships applied for by individuals
Students basically collect information on scholarship applications on their own.They communicate directly with the scholarship organizations, not with the university, for application, notification of acceptance or rejection results, and so on.

Those who wish to apply are required to obtain a university-issued reference number for the letter of recommendation and evaluation form.
Please contact the Student Exchange Team at kokuryu@stu.ehime-u.ac.jp in advance to obtain your reference number. After receiving the number, enter it on both the letter of recommendation and the evaluation form before requesting them from your academic advisor.
